About the Ball

What is the Ball but a nice dinner, some dancing, and why not add a theme! The Ball is a great opportunity for people within the LSF community, as well as their friends, to come together for a night of fun. It's one of the most talked about events for the year. Come along to strut your stuff with the Penguin Dance, win a prize for the best costume and make lasting friendships.

Review of 2009 LSF Ball by Talita Muller

What a night! The 2009 LSF Ball took place on 5 September. It was held at a little restaurant in Brunswick called NEEMA. This Nepalese restaurant provided the setting for the biggest social event of the LSF year.

Sugar and Spice and all things nice, the theme of this extravaganza, left a great deal of room for people’s imaginations to run wild. A wide variety of costumes featured. Some chose to go for the elegant costumes, and a sign or something small to give a clue as to what they represented.  Then there were the dedicated LSFers who went all out. The people whose costumes you’ll never forget.  The school girls and their Sugar Daddy will forever remain an image of the 2009 LSF Ball. The lovely sparkly rainbow-coloured lollypop will also never be forgotten. I will certainly think of our tall Winnie the Pooh character the next time Winnie the Pooh comes up in conversation, rather than the well known cartoon character. 

It was a night where we got to learn some new names, caught up with some old friends and spend hours on the dance floor. The food seemed to be a particular highlight of the night. It was different and absolutely scrumptiolicious. There were a few unsuspected moments of fire breathing after an extremely spicy sauce was discovered on the salad. The rest was all a beautiful sensation contributing to an excellent evening of fun, fun, FUN!

I trust that everyone had a ball and will be back for an even bigger and better ball next time!
