Removing barriers for rural students.
The fund
The Lighthouse Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 to ensure talented students from the Far South Coast of NSW aren't held back by geography or financial circumstance. Too many capable young people from rural communities miss out on higher education simply because of where they grew up.
Each year, one student is selected to receive financial support covering tuition, accommodation, and living costs, along with ongoing mentorship throughout their studies. We look beyond academic results to find students with drive, character, and a genuine connection to their community.
Many graduates return to the Far South Coast, bringing skills the community needs. Others build careers elsewhere but carry the region with them. Both outcomes are something we're proud of.
Dr Jenny Munro
Dr Jenny Munro established the Lighthouse Scholarship Fund in 2007 out of a deep commitment to the Far South Coast community she has spent her life serving. Jenny also founded Lighthouse Surgery Narooma and Bermagui Medical Centre — the scholarship is a natural extension of that same ethos.
Her belief is simple: where you grow up should never determine how far you can go. The fund exists to make sure it doesn't.
